"Data Axle sales volume data is based on public documents/industry and area averages. When it comes to corporate sales volume, we get that from annual reports, newspapers and periodicals. When it comes to location sales volume it is modeled data.

We use the U.S. Department of Commerce supplied data on sales per employee foe each NAICS industry code and then it’s figured by multiplying the number of employees at each location to arrive at a reliable estimate of a company’s annual sales."
