How to Submit a GIS Request

The Request Center is the preferred method for submitting your request.

A completed request form is necessary for all projects.

There are several reasons that a complete request form is required:

1. To ensure that all necessary information is provided to complete your request

2. To find your project in the future (file organization)

3. To timely return requested projects

All final products will be delivered via the Request Center, email or hard copies.

Map boundaries can be:

1. Streets

2. Landmarks (buildings, lakes, mountains)

3. Municipal boundaries (city, county, etc.)

4. Custom area provided by screen shot

To plot Availables/Comps from Research:

1. Meet with your research coordinator to determine sites of interest

2. When list is finalized, request a map through the request center and attach the completed information so we know what to create for you. Please make sure to include full addresses or lat/longs.

When requesting a map for a flyer:

1. When requesting a new map, select the proper page size as needed

2. Keep scale in mind, smaller maps have to be more targeted in what is shown

3. Maps on current flyers do not get updated automatically so submit a request to have one updated

4. Tenant traffic maps are also typically used for flyers

5. If edits are needed to a map in a existing flyer, please attach flyer for reference.

To get a site plan on a map:

1. Begin with the Request Center

2. Use the Attachments at the bottom to send the site plan with your request

Path Name:

Note: Whatever you name your map in the map request will show here. Name your map appropriately in your initial request.

What do you mean by “path name?”

-If we ask for the path name, it is to help find your map amongst all your other projects.

-In the fine print on each map is a piece of text that tells when and where your map was saved.

-It will always begin with “F:\”:

Fast Lane Tips:

-When sending your request, take an extra minute to proof it. This will help with simple errors (e.g. client name spelling)

-Review your list of sites and their corresponding information. Make sure you have them all and let us know order, label format, etc.

-When proofing your map, look over it twice before submitting changes. This helps catch the less obvious changes and reduces the number of drafts

-Print one hard copy and proof again before printing more copies

-Rush jobs are not a good thing. Items are missed when rushed and based on demand we can’t always meet rushed timelines. We steer people away from rush requests at all times. If a rush job is required, we typically drop all customization requests to meet time demands.
